Benefits for work, for play, for life.
The benefits described below are included in the Hines U.S.-
based benefit program. The benefit programs for Hines employees
of international offices will follow the accepted practices
of those countries.
401(k) Plan
Employees are eligible to contribute 1-65 percent of their compensation to the 401(k) Plan. Hines matches employee contributions dollar for dollar up to 6 percent per pay period to a maximum of $5,000 annually with immediate vesting. Eligible employees are automatically enrolled to contribute 3% before-tax to their 401(k) account each pay period that is invested in the T. Rowe Price Retirement Fund closest to the year the employee will turn age 65. Employees can elect to make Roth after-tax contributions, change the salary deferral amount, investment selection, or decline participation in the Plan.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
Employees may elect accidental death and dismemberment coverage for themselves and dependents up to $500,000.
Adoption Benefit
Hines will reimburse employees up to $2,000 for eligible adoption expenses incurred after one year of service.
Basic Life Insurance
Hines provides employee life coverage in the amount of 1 x
base salary up to $500,000.
Benefits Advocate Program
Hines provides dedicated individuals to give employees and
their families a higher level of service when utilizing the
benefit plans. Benefits Advocates help employees and their families
understand the Hines benefit plans by explaining the coverage,
assisting with communications received from benefit providers
and working directly with the benefit providers to resolve issues
as needed.
Business Travel Accident Insurance
Hines provides coverage for employees who are required to travel on company business outside of their municipal work area. This coverage provides an accidental death and dismemberment benefit.
Credit Union Membership
Hines employees may become members of Smart Financial Credit Union with a $5 minimum deposit.
Dependent Care Reimbursement Account
Employees may set aside up to $5,000 on a pre-tax basis to
cover daycare expenses for tax-qualified dependents.
Educational Reimbursement Program
To help employees meet their personal and educational development goals, Hines reimburses employees for courses deemed beneficial to the employee's career at Hines, to a maximum of $4,000 incurred in each calendar year.
Employee Assistance Program
The EAP is a confidential consultation program designed to
help employees and members of their households resolve personal
issues. The company provides three visits per type of issue
annually. Employees may contact the EAP online or by phone for
support regarding emotional well-being, health and wellness,
daily living, life events and more.
Employee Referral Bonus Program
This program pays employees a bonus if they refer applicants who are hired for positions within the company. Referral bonuses are paid after an employee completes 6 months of service.
Health Care Reimbursement Account
Employees may set aside up to $5,000 on a pre-tax basis to
cover expenses that are not covered under the medical, dental
or vision plans for themselves and their tax-qualified dependents.
Holiday Observance
Hines observes nine holidays per year, and every employee
has two floating holidays that may be used during the calendar
year.
Long-Term Disability Insurance
Hines provides coverage that will replace up to 60 percent
of base salary for qualified disabilities exceeding 180 days.
Medical, Dental and Vision Plan
Hines offers medical, dental, vision, behavioral health and
prescription drug benefits to qualified employees, dependents
and domestic partners.
Short-Term Disability Policy
Hines provides coverage to pay 100 percent of base salary for
the first 90 days, and 80 percent of base salary for the second
90 days of a qualified disability.

Voluntary Life Insurance
Employees may elect additional life coverage from 1 to 3 x
base salary up to $500,000. Spouse life coverage may be elected
up to $100,000, and $10,000 life coverage is available per child.
Wellness Benefits
Wellness benefits are provided through the medical plan. Included
are well child exams and immunizations, annual well woman exam,
annual prostate exam, routine physicals, annual flu shots and
baseline and routine mammograms.
