Eighth Avenue Place

 

Entering the Canadian commercial real estate market in 2004, Hines' reputation of outstanding quality, attention to detail and a unique dedication to integrity and professionalism has propelled the company to rapid success in Canada. In 2007, Hines was retained as the development manager for Eighth Avenue Place—a 1.1 million-square-foot office development in downtown Calgary. Completed in April 2011, Eighth Avenue Place  is Canada's first Pre-certified LEED Platinum.

Current Regional Initiatives

Bayside - Toronto, ON is slated to be Toronto's next
great neighbourhood—a vibrant, year-round urban destination that will bring new life to the city's Inner Harbour. Located on a 10-acre site with approximately two million square feet of mixed-use potential, the development
will include an active mix of retail, cultural, residential and office uses combined with open spaces, activities and visual delights. With exceptional architecture and a focus on sustainability,
Bayside will set the standard for future waterfront development.

Eighth Avenue Place - Calgary, AB is a premier office development located in the heart of Calgary's downtown core. Phase I of the development consists of a 49-story East Tower (1.1 million square feet), a 1,143-space underground parkade and a winter garden atrium. The design concept of Eighth Avenue Place makes a metaphorical reference to the peaked and faceted Rocky Mountains that provide such a compelling backdrop to the city of Calgary. As Canada's first Pre-certified LEED Platinum high rise, Eighth Avenue Place features a 30,000-square-foot green roof - one of Canada's largest. The project was completed in April 2011 and is fully leased. Hines has been retained as the Property Manager for Eighth Avenue Place and is currently overseeing the development of the second phase of the project, an 850,000-square-foot, 40-story tower.

Avi Tesciuba is the project officer responsible for the development, acquisition and asset management of projects in Canada. Mr. Tesciuba is responsible for all aspects of the development of Eighth Avenue Place, a two million-square-foot development recently completed in Calgary’s CBD. He served as project officer for the acquisition of Atrium on Bay, a 1.1-million-square-foot mixed-use complex in Toronto’s Downtown North submarket, including oversight of a repositioning that helped create a $100 million value appreciation in four years. After joining Hines in 1998, Mr. Tesciuba served as project manager for numerous developments in Hines’ Midwest region, including: the phased development of Takeda Pharmaceuticals’ North American Headquarters in Deerfield, Illinois—a 70-acre master-planned site accommodating a 1.3 million-square-foot development; the 900,000-square-foot 191 North Wacker Drive development in Chicago’s CBD; and, the redevelopment and repositioning of 29 North Wacker Drive in downtown Chicago. Mr. Tesciuba received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1991; a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993; and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, in 1998. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of California.
