Hines Germany Regional Office

Hines Germany, the first overseas office for the firm, opened in Berlin in 1991. The first development project for the region was Hofgarten am Gendarmenmarkt, a 60,000-square-meter mixed-use development (office, hotel, retail and residential) in Berlin. Since then, Hines Germany has successfully completed other landmark projects in Berlin and Frankfurt totaling 125,000 square meters, which include Rosmarin Karree, DZ Bank and Main Tower. Currently, two projects in Berlin and one Munich totaling 77,500 square meters are under construction. Hines Germany has completed over 282,000 square meters.

A Current Regional Initiative

Alexanderplatz will be an 8-story, 260,000 square-foot (24,154 square meter) development consisting of 80,000 square-foot (7,432 square meters) of office space in 3 stories, 180,000 square-foot (16,722 square meters) of retail space in 5 stories, and a 67-car garage.

Karl Wambach

Karl Wambach joined Hines in 1993. As managing director he is responsible for the planning and execution of projects totaling more than 1.5 billion Euros, including all German developments and operations for Hines. Mr. Wambach completed several innovative projects in Berlin and Frankfurt valued at €1 billion, is currently responsible for projects under execution in Düsseldorf and Munich (exceeding €500 million) and supervises the expansion into different locations, including projects in Stuttgart and Hamburg. Before joining the firm, Mr. Wambach was managing director of general contractors for numerous projects in domestic (German) and international (predominantly the Middle East) markets ­– the completed projects were valued at up to $1 billion each. He received his Diplom Ingenieur (Civil Engineering) degree in 1971 from the University of Applied Science in Munich.
