Hines South America Regional Office

Interlagos Residential Development , São Paulo, Brazil

Hines entered the South American arena in 1998 by initially establishing a regional office in São Paulo, Brazil, and then expanding into Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A total of nine projects, comprising over 2.9 million square feet (269,700 square meters) have been completed since 1998 and another seven projects totaling over 3.8 million square feet (358,961 square meters) are under development. To date, Hines South America has developed office, hotel and industrial properties as well as building a significant property management business for major multi-national and Brazilian companies.

A Current Regional Initiative

Currently under development in São Paulo is Interlagos, a residential complex consisting of 1,250 units in twelve 18-story towers in 963,000 square feet (89,465 square meters) as well as parking for 1,250 cars.

Doug Munro

Doug Munro has developed more than 2.2 million square feet of commercial real estate since his arrival at Hines in 1998. He has more than 15 years experience in the real estate markets of Brazil and other South American countries. He was the managing director of CB Richard Ellis in Brazil, where he was directly responsible for the Tenant Representation, Development, Industrial and National Agency departments. His experience includes the negotiation of Rede Globo’s 340,000 square-foot headquarters site in São Paulo, SmithKline Beecham’s 1 million-square-foot factory in Rio de Janeiro; and ABN Amro’s 65,000-square-foot office in São Paulo. Mr. Munro was the project officer responsible for development of the 60,000-square-foot AC Nielsen Headquarters, the 600,000-square-foot mixed-use development International Plaza, and a 1.2 million-square-foot industrial park called Louveira Distribution Park. He has also been responsible for managing disposition programs for Chase, Cigna, Coats Viyella and Texas Instruments. Tenant Representation includes leasing for Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, CS First Boston, Bear Stearns, Robert Flemings, Bankers Trust, Price Waterhouse and Ford. Mr. Munro received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Kentucky in 1984 and a Diploma in Surveying from England's College of Estate Management in 1991.

C. Kevin Shannahan

C. Kevin ShannahanKevin Shannahan is managing principal and regional officer responsible for the development and asset management of projects in the Midwest and Southeast Regions of the United States and new activities throughout South America. He is also a member of the Hines Executive Committee. Since joining Hines in 1982, Mr. Shannahan has developed/redeveloped more than 18 million square feet of commercial real estate representing approximately $3 billion. He also has extensive experience in development, marketing and finance. As a project officer, Mr. Shannahan was responsible for the development and construction management of the 300,000-square-foot Vencor Headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky; the 400,000-square-foot Owens Corning Headquarters in Toledo, Ohio; the 560,000-square-foot Thomson Consumer Electronics Headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana; the 446,000-square-foot Allen Bradley Cleveland Offices in Cleveland, Ohio; the 650,000-square-foot AEGON Center in Louisville, Kentucky; the 1.1 million-square-foot Huntington Center in Columbus, Ohio; the 1.5 million-square-foot NationsBank Center in Houston; and the 2 million-square-foot Texas Commerce Tower in Houston. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, from Cornell University in 1978 and his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1982.
