REGIONAL OFFICES
Hines Spain Regional Office
As part of the Hines Europe expansion, the firm entered the
Spanish market with a strategic investment in Barcelona in 1996.
That investment centered on 34 hectares (84 acres) of land in
downtown Barcelona, fronting onto the Mediterranean Sea. Now
known as Diagonal Mar, the project is one of Europe's largest
mixed-use developments, totaling over 372,000 square meters
(4 million square feet). The project consists of an 87,500-square-meter
(941,500-square-foot) retail and leisure center, which opened
in November 2001, five residential phases with a total of 1,400
apartments, three hotels, three office buildings and the third
largest public park in Barcelona. In 2000, Hines expanded its
operations in Spain by opening the Madrid office. In 2004, the
Marbella office was opened. Today, Hines España has over
30 employees involved in development, leasing, financing and
asset management.
