Hines wins the first ever Green Perspective Award for leadership in sustainable development in Russia

On October 29th, 2009 Hines was awarded the first ever Green Perspective Award for leadership in sustainable development in the Russian Federation. The award was presented to Hines at the 1st Green and Sustainable Real Estate Conference (http://www.imevents.ru/reports.php). The event was organized by Impress Media - the organizer of Russia’s annual Commercial Real Estate Awards, which attracts the top real estate developers and specialists from all over the country. The award was presented in recognition of Hines’ leadership in sustainability both in Russia and around the world. The firm’s Russian activities that were recognized were Hines’ submittal of the Ducat Place III office building for BREEAM Very Good certification (submittal registered and awaiting confirmation from BRE), and the efforts Hines is currently taking to implement BREEAM procedures and specifications into the design and construction of the Belaya Dacha Outlet Village development in Moscow, where the team is working toward a BREEAM Excellent rating.

Currently, Hines has over 300,000 square meters of real estate assets and developments that are either pre-certified or certified under the BREEAM certification standard. In the United States, Hines has 98 real estate assets and developments that are either registered, pre-certified or certified under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® Green Building Rating System. Additionally, Hines has over 130 buildings that have been awarded the label ENERGY STAR® by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Hines’ ENERGY STAR buildings save investors and tenants over $103 million in energy costs annually.
