Stewart O. Robinson Joins Hines' MainPlace Leasing Team

10/15/07

(HOUSTON) – The Houston office of Hines, the international real estate firm, announced today that veteran real estate broker Stewart O. Robinson will join the firm on November 1, 2007, as Senior Director in charge of marketing and leasing for MainPlace, Hines’ new one million-square-foot office building in Houston’s Central Business District.  Robinson will be a key resource in the firm’s marketing and leasing group, which is headed by Vice President Chrissy Wilson, who is responsible for leasing activities at MainPlace as well as 11.3 million square feet of Hines-owned and managed properties in Houston.

“On the first day of my career in 1973, I began leasing Pennzoil Place,” recalls Robinson.  “That led to a remarkable run of leasing at 1100 Louisiana, JPMorgan Chase Tower and beginning Bank of America Center.  The opportunity to contribute to the success of yet another premier Hines office building in downtown Houston, and to be a part of a truly world-class organization, is very exciting.”

As one of Houston’s leading brokers over the course of his more than 35 years in Houston real estate, Robinson represented many major tenants including Center Point Energy, Tenneco, Reliant Energy and Exxon.

MainPlace is scheduled for initial occupancy in December 2010.  Robinson’s role will be to capture the momentum in the Class A market, and lease space to tenants whose leases expire in the 2010 – 2011 timeframe.  “In 1976, while leasing 1100 Louisiana for Hines, I felt that I was leasing the best office property in the best city in the country.  Leasing MainPlace in today’s vibrant market puts me in that position once again.”

Hines is developing MainPlace through its partnership with the Hines CalPERS Green (HCG) fund.  The building is designed by renowned architect Jon Pickard with Pickard Chilton Architects in New Haven, Connecticut, and will be the first high-rise office building in downtown Houston to be built to LEED Silver standards.  LEED is a designation bestowed by the U.S. Green Building Council and stands for “Leadership in Environmental Design.”

Hines is a privately owned real estate firm involved in real estate investment, development and property management worldwide. The Hines portfolio of projects underway, completed, acquired and managed for third parties includes more than 1,000 properties representing approximately 416 million square feet of office, residential, mixed-use, industrial, hotel, medical, retail and sports facilities, as well as large, master-planned communities and land developments.  With offices in 68 U.S. cities and 15 foreign countries, and controlled assets valued at approximately $19.9 billion, Hines is one of the largest real estate organizations in the world.
