200 South Tryon Renovation
Charlotte, NC
200 South Tryon is a joint venture between General Electric Investments and Hines to renovate and reposition a 17-story, 215,000-square-foot office building in downtown Charlotte. As Hines' first project in the Charlotte market, it was selected to take advantage of the strong leasing market and its superior location.
After purchasing 200 South Tryon in December 1998, work began to renovate the Class B structure into a Class B+ facility with superior amenities. The renovation included: asbestos abatement; removal of the exterior granite curtain wall on floors two through four; replacement of the curtain wall with a combination of metal and glass; cleaning and painting the remaining exterior; and a complete gutting and renovation of all interior spaces. The renovation was completed in 2001.
