For the last two decades, a team of cyclists from the Hines Chicago office, friends and family members, have participated in the Scenic Shore 150 Bike Tour, a two-day, 150-200-mile cycling event open to riders of all ages and abilities. The ride takes its name from the course, which follows the scenic shoreline of beautiful Lake Michigan, and is the largest regional event sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LSS).
The Hines team, known as Riders of the Storm because of its mission to assist patients in their battle with cancer, raised over half a million dollars, topping their highest annual raise by $100,000. The team recruited individual and corporate sponsors in support of their efforts, and to date Riders of the Storm have raised $4 million to fund research and support for individuals fighting cancer.
Blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma affect one person every three minutes in the United States. The research sponsored by LLS has translated directly into paradigm technology gains in the battle against breast and lung cancers as well. Congratulations to Riders of the Storm for helping to improve the odds and quality of life for these patients and their families.
