Hines Tops Out New Tower and Announces Project Name - One Museum Place

(SHANGHAI, CHINA) – Hines, the international real estate firm, held a ceremony yesterday to celebrate the structural topping out of its new office project in Shanghai’s prestigious Jing An District, and to announce the formal project name - One Museum Place.

The tower is the centerpiece of Jing An District’s new urban center - the Museum Place district. Museum Place is the last and best commercial and recreation area in the heart of downtown Shanghai. It includes the newly built Shanghai Natural History Museum which enjoys a great stream of visitors every day. The large Jing An Sculpture Park provides open green spaces, beautiful plantings, fountains and artwork, and the new Metro line 10 will open there by the end of this year with the Natural History Museum Station. Museum Place lies between Beijing Road, Suzhou Creek, Shimen Road and the North/South highway.

One Museum Place, the landmark tower at the center of the Museum Place district, is a 54-story prime office building with a six-story retail podium. The office tower is designed and built to the highest international specifications of quality and sustainability with features such as three-meter clear ceiling heights and superior elevator service. One Museum Place will be one of the first LEED®Platinum office towers in Shanghai. The lifestyle-oriented retail podium will meet the daily needs of the office tenants and also provide daytime and evening opportunities for fine dining and relaxation, with its spacious interiors and broad outdoor terraces overlooking Jing An Sculpture Park.

Hines Senior Managing Director James Morrison commented, “The Museum Place district is a world-class urban amenity. With its new museum, sculpture park, historic district and riverfront walk, all served by the new Metro10, we call it the ‘Jewel of Jing An.’ One Museum Place will be the landmark tower of this new district – and Hines is striving to create the finest office building in the city. While topping out the steel structure of One Museum Place is a major milestone, we are very focused on completing the rest of the building and continuing discussion with potential tenants.”

Hines successfully won the bid for this site in Jing An District in 2013. Designed by Gensler Associates, architect of the landmark Shanghai Tower, and built by Shanghai Construction Group, the steel structure of One Museum Place has now reached its full 250-meter height. The project is expected to be completed by the mid-2017.
