Houston's First Chef Hall Announced for Hines' Aris Market Square

Bravery Chef Hall to Occupy 9,100 Square-foot Restaurant Space

HOUSTON – Hines, the international real estate firm, unveiled plans today for the city’s first chef hall. Bravery Chef Hall will lease the 9,100 square-foot restaurant space at the ground level of Aris Market Square, Hines’ new 32-floor, all-rental luxury high-rise tower at 409 Travis Street at the corner of Preston.

The chef hall is an evolution of a food hall and offers fine dining with the speed of counter service. Anh Mai and Lian Nguyen, the same duo who introduced Houston’s first food hall, Conservatory – Underground Beer Garden & Food Hall, are the creators of Bravery Chef Hall. They also own downtown’s Prohibition Supperclub & Bar.

Bravery Chef Hall will feature five open-kitchen stations owned and operated by chefs, each with its own dining concept. Stations will accommodate between 30 and 40 guests in a counter-side seating format centered around the chef. Each station also caters to casual diners offering a walk-up area to order and find table seating within the hall, or order to-go. Patrons can enjoy outdoor dining in Aris Market Square’s adjacent private garden, reminiscent of tree-shaded courtyards in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

“Lian and I are introducing Bravery Chef Hall as a place where chefs can own and operate their own concept without all the risks associated with a traditional chef driven restaurant,” said Mai. “It’s the evolution of the food hall and, I believe, the first of its kind.”

Managed by veteran restauranteur and sommelier Shepard Ross, Bravery Chef Hall will feature kitchens by David Guerrero of Andes Café, Ben McPherson formerly of Krisp Bird & Batter, Gary Ly, formerly of Underbelly and two chefs to be announced. In addition to the five stations, the chef hall will include two separate wine bars and one coffee and pastry counter.

“Bravery Chef Hall will be a one-of-a-kind amenity for residents of Aris Market Square,” said David Haltom, Director at Hines. “The interactive dining experience complements the lively neighborhood, and we look forward to enhancing the area’s living experience together.”

Bravery Chef Hall is slated to open in summer 2018 and will operate Sunday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., including a happy hour special from Monday – Friday, 3 – 7 p.m.
