Sterlinga Business Center Awarded BREEAM Certificate

(WARSAW, POLAND) The Warsaw office of Hines, the international real estate firm, announced today that Sterlinga Business Center (SBC) has completed the BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) certification process.

SBC, the most modern office building in Łódź, offers its tenants more than 140,000 square feet of Class A office space located on nine floors.

It is the first facility in Łódź to receive this certification.

BREEAM is a leading and widely recognized European environmental assessment method for buildings. It sets the standards for best practice in sustainable design and has become the measure to describe a building’s environmental performance. Obtaining the BREEAM certificate involves meeting several requirements for energy efficiency throughout the entire development process. BREEAM recognizes performance in key areas: sustainable management, energy and water usage, air quality inside the building, proper waste disposal, implementation of eco-friendly materials and the provision of a friendly working environment.

Receiving this certificate is a result of SBC’s innovative design. Some of the sustainable solutions which contributed to this certification are: convenient location with access to public transportation; energy efficient systems for exterior and interior lighting, elevators, etc.; implementation of water saving technologies; attention to proper waste disposal; and use of environmentally friendly building and finishing materials. Not only do these features contribute to the issuance of the BREEAM certificate but also to the success of SBC in the office market in Łódź.

SBC’s roster of tenants include: Philips; Nycomed; Budimex; Plano-Invest; Arboretum; Tate & Lyle; Rule Financial and Sodexo.

Hines commissioned Buro Happold, a consulting firm dedicated to performing environmental assessments of buildings, to conduct the property’s assessment.

Bruno Happold Associate Mark Dabrowski commented, “Obtaining the post-construction BREEAM certificate is a confirmation of Hines’ standards and its dedication to sustainability. We are pleased that we were entrusted with the assessment of the Sterlinga Business Center under the BREEAM method.”
