In January 2008, Hines Spain began development of the Zielo Shopping Pozuelo project, a three-level, 170,350-square-foot urban shopping center that is located in the municipality of Pozuelo de Alarcón near Madrid. Pozuelo is a Spanish town with the highest income per capita, and is home to a number of Spanish celebrities and sports figures. The project has a total catchment area of more than 1.5 million people living within a 30-minute drive, approximately 200,000 which live within a 10-minute walk, and another 40,000 people who work in nearby offices.  The project, which is the first LEED pre-certified shopping center in Europe, was completed in 2009. Hines sold the shopping center in 2015.
