Shanghai’s One Museum Place held its first-ever tenant event on Earth Day featuring the Better Water campaign—a Green Initiatives campaign to encourage the exchange of plastic drinking bottles for filtered water systems. The after-work event was held in the soaring lobby of One Museum Place with over 100 people in attendance.
Attendees viewed screenings of the short films, “Story of Bottled Water” and “A Plastic Ocean,” and learned that China has become the world’s #1 bottled water user, producing enough plastic waste each year to fill Shanghai’s 88-story Jinmao Tower—the country’s second-tallest building. Several event partners were on hand to network, answer questions and discuss alternatives to the use of bottled water in business environments.
The goal of the event was to raise awareness of the problem and initiate change among business leaders. Hines Shanghai is taking steps to lead the way, introducing a filtered water system in its 10th floor office at One Museum Place. The property makes this option available to tenants as well by offering six locations with plumbing and drainage connections on each of its office floors.
One Museum Place is a 1.4 million-square-foot, 60-story prime office tower in the heart of Shanghai, located next to the Natural History Museum and Jing’an Sculpture Park. It features a six-level lifestyle-oriented retail pavilion that provides tenants and visitors with daytime and evening opportunities for dining and relaxation.
