Alfonso Munk Co-Chairs Pension Real Estate Association's (PREA) 2023 Spring Conference

Participating in the CEO Forum? As Co-Chair of the event, Alfonso Munk, Chief Investment Officer, Americas will be there too. Mr. Munk is responsible for developing investment strategy for North and South America. He is a member of Hines' Executive and Investment Committees and is actively involved in supporting PREA's mission and vision through the Spring Conference and beyond.

Alfonso Munk - Chief Investment Officer, Americas

Mr. Munk joined Hines in 2019 as CIO, Americas and is responsible for developing investment strategy for North and South America that is in line with the global views of the firm. He is a member of the firm’s Executive and Investment Committees. Munk brings more than 20 years of diverse experience in real estate investing activities in the U.S., Europe and Latin America. Before joining the firm, he served as Managing Director, Americas, Chief Investment Officer and head of Latin America at PGIM Real Estate. Munk has a bachelor’s degree in business and hospitality administration from Cornell University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in finance and real estate. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Global Exchange Council and serves on the Executive Committee of the Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center at the Wharton School. He is also a member of the Advisory Board at the Center for Real Estate Finance at Cornell University's SC Johnson College of Business and the Advisory Board at the University of Miami business school real estate program. In addition he serves in the Board of Trustees at Gulliver Schools in Florida.

Sarah Hawkins - CEO East Region

Ms. Hawkins is the CEO of Hines' East Region and a member of the firm’s global Executive Committee. She is responsible for all development, acquisition, asset management and operations activity in the East Region, which includes active offices in New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia. Previously, she served as the East Region’s Chief Operating Officer, and prior to that she was a Managing Director in the New York regional office. Prior to joining Hines as an associate in 2011, she was an associate at Fortress Investment Group and before that an analyst at The Blackstone Group.


Hawkins earned her BA and BBA from the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

Andie Scanlan - View Experience

Ms. Scanlan is Managing Director for the Capital Markets Team for Hines based in New York City. Prior to joining the firm in 2019, she was with GreenOak Real Estate (now BentallGreenOak) for seven years. She spent her first three years at GreenOak on their East Coast acquisition team before joining the global capital raising team focused on institutional investors. Prior to GreenOak, Ms. Scanlan was an investment banking analyst at UBS in the Real Estate, Lodging and Leisure group based in New York City.


Ms. Scanlan has a double undergraduate degree—Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Property & Construction—from the University of Melbourne in Australia, where she grew up. She holds her Series 7, Series 79 and Series 63 licenses.

Andie Scanlan

John Faust - View Experience

Mr. Faust is a Managing Director for the Capital Markets Team for Hines based in San Francisco. Prior to joining the firm in 2019, he was a Managing Director at Barings Alternative Investments and was responsible for business development and client relations in the United States. Mr. Faust was a member of J.P. Morgan’s Asset Management –Global Real Estate Marketing and Client Relations Group also based in San Francisco. Previously he was employed with Legacy Partners Commercial (SteelWave) for almost ten years. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Equitable Real Estate and Lend Lease as a field appraiser, asset manager and as an account executive responsible for public pension funds in the Western United States. He began his career with Burroughs Corporation as an account manager in Connecticut.


Mr. Faust holds a B.S. in Finance from Boston College and an M.B.A. from Duke University. He holds a Certified Property Manager designation as well as Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.

Adriana de Alcantara - View Experience

Adriana de Alcantara joined Hines in January 2020 as Senior Managing Director, Fund Manager for Hines US Property Partners (HUSPP), Hines’ Flagship Core Plus Open-End Fund. She Is responsible for developing and executing the investment strategy for HUSPP.


Adriana brings more than 20 years of global experience in the real estate industry across all asset classes including, office, multifamily, retail and industrial. Before joining the firm, she served as Managing Director, Senior Portfolio Manager at Nuveen Real Estate based in New York, where she was the lead Portfolio Manager for the TIAA-CREF Real Property Fund LP, a core open-end fund focusing on institutional CRE across the U.S. in diverse asset types and geographies. Prior to that since 2009, she served in a variety of lead roles at TIAA in both London and New York overseeing Asset Management and Separate Accounts. Her background also includes significant roles at Lehman Brothers Global Real Estate Group (Luxembourg and London), O’Connor Capital Partners (Luxembourg and London).


Adriana holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (in Barcelona) is a Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA) and a Certified Financial Planner professional (CFP®). She serves as Co-Chair of the DC Affinity Group at PREA (Pension Real Estate Association) and is an active member of the Programming Committee at WX New York Women Executives in Real Estate. She is also fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French.

Ali Siby - View Experience

Ali Siby is a Senior Director, Fund Management, Americas, serving as Assistant Fund Manager for Hines U.S. Property Partners responsible for developing and executing the fund’s investment strategy.


Prior to joining Hines, Ali worked at Nuveen Real Estate as an Assistant Portfolio Manager for the Real Property Fund an open-end core fund. In this role he was responsible for deploying $2.0 billion in new acquisitions investing across the US targeting office, retail, multifamily and industrial assets. He also served in a variety of roles, spearheading $220 million of office redevelopment projects in partnership with Taconic Investment Partners and overseeing the asset management of a portfolio of several New York assets. He is a member of the PREA Defined Contribution Committee and serves as one of the co-chairs the NCREIF ESG Committee.


Ali holds a BS in Economics from Stony Brook University, is a Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst (CAIA).

Joshua Scoville, CFA - View Experience

Mr. Scoville is Senior Managing Director, Investment Management and is a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He heads the firm’s proprietary research group which identifies how market forces, including macroeconomics, commercial real estate fundamentals, and capital markets influence investments and returns. Prior to joining the firm, Scoville served as Director of U.S. Research for the market leader in analyzing and forecasting commercial real estate markets in North America and Europe. He was responsible for managing their research platform and participating in broader initiatives including quarterly forecasting, market analysis, thought leadership and product development.


Scoville received a BA magna cum laude in Economics and Business Management from Boston College and is a CFA charter holder.
