Hines Earns 2024 Energy Star® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award

Firm awarded ENERGY STAR®’s highest honor for the 17th time

(HOUSTON) – Hines, the global real estate investment manager, continues its streak of recognition within corporate energy management. The firm has been named a recipient of the 2024 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award, presented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. This is the 20th time Hines has been recognized by ENERGY STAR®, and the 17th time it has won the Sustained Excellence Award.

As the program’s highest honor, the Sustained Excellence Award is exclusively presented to organizations that have achieved Partner of the Year several consecutive times, and whose annual achievements transcend those of previous years.

“The continued recognition from the EPA and DOE highlights our dedication to our ambitious sustainability strategy, including our commitment to achieving net-zero operational carbon by 2040,” said Chad Engle, senior vice president of engineering at Hines. “We remain focused on integrating sustainable practices into our operations and contributing positively to the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.”

Hines’ portfolio of ENERGY STAR buildings consists of 188 facilities spanning more than 87.2 million square feet. With an average performance rating of 81, the portfolio is 31% more energy-efficient than the national average, according to ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager®.

“I congratulate this year’s ENERGY STAR award winners for their innovation and leadership, in delivering cost-effective energy efficient solutions that create jobs, address climate change, and contribute to a healthier environment for all,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan.

Presented annually, the ENERGY STAR® Awards honor leaders in environmental protection and innovation. Award-winning businesses and organizations have made exceptional contributions to the production, sale, and adoption of energy-efficient products, homes, buildings, services, and strategies. These efforts are essential to the fight against climate change, and to public health as a whole.

All recipients are selected from the ENERGY STAR® partners network, comprised of thousands of organizations committed to energy efficiency. For a complete list of 2024 winners and more information about the ENERGY STAR® Awards, visit energystar.gov/awardwinners.
