Hines, Industrious Announce Opening of The Square with Industrious Salt Lake City

Global workplace platform opens in historic Kearns Building

(SALT LAKE CITY) — Hines, the international real estate firm, today announced The Square with Industrious Salt Lake City, its second flexible workspace location under the Hines² (Hines Squared) platform, will be opening on June 22, 2020. Located in the historic Kearns Building, The Square with Industrious Salt Lake City will be the first coworking space in Utah to pursue WELL Certification and will be operated by Industrious, the largest premium coworking provider and leading ‘work from anywhere’ platform in the U.S.

The Square with Industrious in Salt Lake City is uniquely designed to provide members with the safest, healthiest, most productive work environment available. Built to the engineering standard of Hines and powered by the service of Industrious, The Square with Industrious Salt Lake City is able to accommodate large enterprises and small businesses alike across two floors totaling 25,000 square feet.

Opened in 1911, the Kearns Building was named after the renowned entrepreneur and U.S. Senator Thomas Kearns, whose enterprising spirit continues with the introduction of flexible workspace for companies of all sizes and a significant renovation. Hines is bringing this historic building into the future with a $25 million redevelopment project which includes all new HVAC, technical upgrades, and building amenities and is targeting LEED® Silver Certification. The Square with Industrious hospitality team will oversee the numerous dedicated offices, enterprise team suites, private phone rooms and conference/meeting rooms to ensure the highest level of cleanliness and service.

Members of The Square with Industrious Salt Lake City will have access to a tenant lounge, event space, wellness center, fully-equipped gym with two-story historic windows, and a rooftop complete with local mural by Chuck Landvatter and Jared Andr Smith. The Square with Industrious Salt Lake City also offers a member kitchen, daily gourmet breakfast and coffee, and a fully stocked cafe with snacks and soft beverages. Services include 24/7 access, mail/package services, unlimited printing, secure shredding, A/V meeting support, fast and secure internet with VLAN in every office to support productivity and community event programming.

Productivity and employee health go hand in hand, which is why The Square with Industrious Salt Lake City is WELL Registered by the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™). Some of the initiatives Hines has put into this location include enhanced HVAC filtration and UV treatment, and cleaning products and protocols that improve Indoor Air Quality and reduce contagion; plentiful access to natural daylight; and advanced acoustics to enhance employee productivity. Certification is expected later this year and is based on meeting the IWBI’s strict standards for ventilation, lighting, thermal comfort among other categories. Beyond building systems, The Square Industrious Salt Lake City also ensures operations are supportive of emotional wellbeing, physical exercise and holistic communities.
