Hines Promotes Crystal Castille-Cromedy to Chief Diversity Officer

(HOUSTON) – Hines, the global real estate investment, development, and property manager, today announced Crystal Castille-Cromedy will be promoted to senior vice president of talent and chief diversity officer. Reporting directly to chief people officer, Stephanie Biernbaum, Crystal will lead the firm’s talent and DEI strategy to ensure Hines continues to attract, train, and retain diverse individuals, creates high-quality talent outcomes and achieves more equitable diversity representation across the company’s employee base.

Since first joining Hines in June of 2020 as vice president of Talent, Leadership and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Crystal has demonstrated her leadership through the creation and evolution of numerous internal programs such as mentorship initiatives, employee resource groups, performance reviews and succession planning. Additionally, she plays a key role in Hines’ major new business pursuits, including the recently approved proposal to redevelop Tropicana Field for the Tampa Bay Rays.

"Crystal has been an undeniable force in our pursuit to make Hines an industry leader for diversity, equity and inclusion,” said Laura Hines-Pierce, co-CEO of Hines. “She understands that successful DEI programs are more than just setting and meeting goals, but instead about integrating people-focused programs into every aspect of our business, and holistically connecting talent and DEI.”

Since Crystal joined Hines in June 2020, she has managed a team of 25 people to lead the company’s efforts in translating Hines’ values and business goals into tangible HR actions. She previously served as the VP of HR and Head of the HR Executive Office at BP. She earned an MBA with an emphasis in human resource management from the University of Phoenix and received an undergraduate degree from the University of California Davis.

“At Hines, we have integrated our talent and DEI strategies to achieve our vision of a more diverse, equitable and inclusive company and industry. We emphasize that everyone’s participation is needed to achieve our business, people and DEI goals,” Crystal said. “I am honored for the opportunity to continue encouraging people to do their best while being themselves at Hines. By modeling authenticity and pursuing excellence, our team is proving that the company thrives when people bring their whole selves to work.”
