One Museum Place: the Prestigious New Commercial Address in the Central Jing’an District Is Officially Open

Hines sets a new benchmark in commercial space in Shanghai

(SHANGHAI) — Hines, the international real estate firm, announced today that the magnificent new addition to Shanghai’s skyline, One Museum Place, was inaugurated with much fanfare on the evening of September 19. The grand opening was attended by 300 guests from the real estate and business community including representatives from developer and manager Hines, building owner ADIA, architect Gensler and contractor Shanghai Construction Group; as well as representatives from financial, realty and lifestyle media outlets.

Centrally located in the last-available prime location in downtown Shanghai’s Jing’an district, One Museum Place offers excellent connectivity, with an on-property link to metro line 13 (Shanghai Natural History Museum Station) and easy access to the North-South Elevated Road, Xinzha Road and Western Beijing Road.

The tower, which has attracted a host of Fortune 500 and top Chinese companies in sectors such as finance, professional services, pharmacy and technology, comprises 60 floors of prime office space and a retail podium, both overlooking the Natural History Museum and the verdant Jing’an Sculpture Park with open spaces and beautiful installations. Dubbed as the Pearl of Jing’an, the project is set to benefit greatly from the district government’s plans for the museum area.

The firm also manages a number of owned and third-party properties.

Since its entry into China in 1995, Hines has developed many landmark projects, including the 21st Century Tower and Four Seasons in Pudong, California Place in Shanghai and Embassy House and Park Avenue in Beijing, One Museum Place, represents the coming together of Hines’ vast development experience and solid business reputation in China and reflects its commitment to developing world-class properties for China.

Hines senior managing director James Morrison said, “ I believe One Museum Place—another milestone for Hines in China—will be the most sought-after office property in Shanghai. We have many blue-chip tenants and wide support from the brokerage community. We are focused on the “Hines Standard” in operations and project management, to ensure the quality of operations is commensurate with the building itself.”

Hines Senior Managing Director Benjamin Chu added, “The area around the Natural History Museum is a premium location with world-class urban amenities, including the museum, Jing’an Sculpture Park, and other historic districts along the Suzhou River. It was important that the building match the importance of the privileged location.”

One Museum Place was developed through a close collaboration between Hines and Gensler, one of the leading architectural design firms in the world. For Gensler, this project is a prestigious addition to their formidable portfolio, which includes Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China and the second-tallest in the world. Hines and Gensler have worked together in China for over 15 years on iconic projects, including the 21st Century Tower and Four Seasons Hotel in Lujiazui, Shanghai.

Peter Weingarten, regional managing principal from Gensler, said, “Always associated with excellent quality, Gensler has become a leader in architecture design standards and trends. It has been a great pleasure working again with Hines on this masterpiece commercial project. We look forward to creating more memorable projects in China in partnership with Hines.”

CEO of Shanghai Construction Group, the contractor of One Museum Place, Mr Bian Jia Jun said, “The project meets world-class construction standards. The building façade and material used are sophisticated, which makes One Museum Place a project that will stand the test of time and generate higher value.”
