A follow-up conversation with the panelists from the Forum on Empathy and Understanding
Last summer, we united in solidarity with our Black and African-American colleagues and communities across the U.S. and came together as a global OneHines family to listen and lend support as we heard a panel of our colleagues share their personal experiences and how they were affected by George Floyd’s death.
This week, we reunited the original panelists to reflect on the past year and our journey thus far. Laura Hines-Pierce welcomed the panelists and listeners and shared her vision for the firm in respects to the topic. She advised, “It’s so important to me for everyone to be able to say I belong here.”
Chief People Officer Steph Biernbaum then kicked off the discussion with the panelists: Managing Director Bert Brown; CIO Jesse Carrillo; Chief Compliance Officer, Hines Securities LeRonica Hill; and Senior Vice President – Operations Andrew Cooke.
The discussion was insightful and powerful with the group sharing even more personal end emotional stories of what they’ve experienced. The group highlighted the progress made over the last year and emphasized that the firm, and leadership, isn’t losing sight that there is still work to do. The panel also took questions from the audience.
All Hines team members, including international colleagues, were invited to participate, support and learn.
