In 2016, Hines acquired the historical trophy asset Dante 16 on behalf of an institutional real estate fund. Located in the very heart of Milan’s city center, a few steps away from the Castello Sforzesco, the splendid street on which Dante 16 lies connects the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Piazza del Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The building occupies a total area of approximately 6,000 square meters with seven above ground floors and one below ground floor.
The asset was built in 1891 and won third place for its architect Antonio Tagliaferri in a competition organized by the Municipality of Milan to build the most beautiful building in the street. The elegant building was constructed in an eclectic neo-Renaissance style, with a decorated stone façade characterized by a round arch surmounted by two sculptures, allegories of Medicine and Industry, as the entrance.
The refurbishment project, designed by Garreti Associati and completed in 2018, created a mixed-use property with office spaces on the upper floors and three restaurants on the ground floors.
The asset was sold in 2020.
